Gregory and some of his wolves were moving around arranging stones and boxes while Regina was boiling something nasty in a cauldron, like a typical witch. Fire torches had been lit around, giving an orange glow to everything. Providing me with a good view of the number of wolves stationed around the cave. There were 10 Betas and warriors around us. I was sure there would be more in the forest. I couldn't fight through so many wolves. I would have to make a run somehow.
"Are you going to sacrifice me or something?" I asked casually.
"You are too expensive to be sacrificed, sweetheart," Gregory smirked.
"She would not be harmed, right? She can still give me pups, isn't it?" He asked Regina.
I wanted to gag and rip his throat off.
"No, I just need her blood for now," Regina said.
I wrinkled my nose, these people were crazy.
"Give me the girl," Savannah asked me.
I clutched Clara tighter.
"No, I don't trust you," I said
"You don't have any option Alice, if you don't follow instructions, Clara will die," Savannah warned me.
"You can still kill her, why should I trust you?" I asked.
"She is a true-born witch," Regina said as she sauntered towards me. "She would be the jewel of my coven. I can't even dream of harming her." She said and caressed Clara's blonde curls.
I narrowed my eyes at her. So, this was the plan. She was going to keep Clara. It must have been Savannah who would have informed her about Clara being a witch.
"I can still kill her if you don't cooperate. I won't need another witch as long as I keep getting your blood." Regina grinned.
So, I was her blood bank!
"Very well," I reluctantly passed Clara to Savannah, the little girl whimpered in protest, but I soothed her to remain quiet.
I called for Lucian in my mind, but I couldn't reach him. With no other option, I walked towards the circle of skulls.
"Give me your hand," Regina said.
I obeyed. A sharp pain commenced in my hand, as Regina slashed my palm. My blood flowed in rivulets and collected in a goblet. As my wound healed and closed. She turned the content of the goblet in the bubbling cauldron and said some incantation.
I swallowed a lump. Would I forget Lucian? My wolf fought against me.
'No, we can't leave our mate!' I felt a tear trickle down my eyes and I contemplated ways to kill myself.
'You won't do that, Alice!' He said in mind.
'Lucian ?' I whispered to the voice.
'I am here,' he replied. Those words were like music to my ears.
'Oh! Thank God you found me....... Savannah betrayed us.'
'I know sweetie, just pretend that I am unaware, follow the ceremony, it won't affect you.'
'Really?' I asked.
'Yes, Aunt Flora confirmed, just let them do whatever they are doing and tell me who all are there. I am coming to you.'
I sobbed with relief. Savannah gave me a withering look.
"There is no use crying, bitch! He will be mine now," She said.
I made sure that Lucian heard it as I mentally communicated with him. Red smoke emanated from the cauldron as Regina filled the goblet with that disgusting liquid.
"Drink it!" She commanded.
I gagged, it contained my blood! I closed my eyes and finished that revolting liquid in one gulp. It didn't taste that bad. It didn't have any taste at all. Keeping my eyes closed I nodded my head. I didn't need to see the rest to know what was going to happen. I felt woozy and shoved myself back against a slab of stone and sat down. Some of the moon's rays were falling on my chest. I felt heat radiate from my chest outward. And then nothing.
"Well, what is happening?" Savannah yelled.
"Her bond is breaking," Regina said excitedly.
"How can you be confident?" Gregory said eagerly.
"She will come to you," Regina said.
I opened my eyes and stared at Gregory.
"Mine!" I growled.
"Fucking hell! It worked," Gregory yelled.
Regina looked baffled as if she wasn't optimistic that it would work. I stood up slowly and walked towards Gregory, who was grinning ear to ear.
I could sense his smile.
'Alright, we have surrounded the area and are narrowing in. Make a run as soon as you can.' He replied.
I smiled smugly, then poked the gun further in Gregory's temple.
"Raise your hands and do as I say."
He shivered a little.
"You assured me that your spell will work," he stared menacingly at Regina who was looking stunned, and fearful. She had messed up and was not going to wriggle out of this.
The Betas surrounding us were slowly closing in. They could easily overpower me. I would have to leave with Gregory to make sure they didn't attack me.
"I am going to kill you witch! You conned us!" Savannah seethed in anger and held Regina by her throat.
"I don't know what happened....."
"Shut up!" Savannah screamed and slashed her throat with her claws. Regina fell limp, blood flowing from her neck. I wasn't certain if she was dead, and I didn't care.
"Move!" I yelled and jabbed Gregory.
I stepped back, pulling Gregory along toward the tree line. There would be warriors around, but once I was far enough I could make a run.
"Stop her," Savannah shouted in anger, but it was too late. Tearing out of my clothes, I shifted into a hybrid, my body was covered with fur. I used all my might to push Gregory towards the approaching wolves. Before they could react, I dashed into the dark forest.
'Good job, Alice,' Lucian said in my mind.
Brambles reached out and grabbed me in the dense undergrowth. I was leaving a perfect trail and I knew it.
'Lucian' I silently called, 'I'm running east, please find me.'
'I am in the forest, looking for you, Alice,' he replied.
I just prayed he reached me before Gregory's wolves did.
"Clara dear, I will shift into a full wolf, hold me tight when I run. Like you ride on your mother's back. You can do that?" I asked Clara while I stopped near a thick tree. I would be faster as a wolf.
She nodded. I shifted and sat down so that Clara could climb on me. I felt her hand holding on to my fur, and then I ran. The howling I heard faintly in the distance sounded like a hunt and I was the prize.
