Chapter 423
Isaiah POV

I’m furious! Sinclair apologizing for restraining me was adding insult to injury. My mate, however, used our first kiss to trick me. Then got herself beaten to a pulp by her asshole husband.
She isn’t healing very quickly. I’m worried that her wolf is weak. When I mark her, it should strengthen her wolf. I need to help her recover first. As angry as I am, I’m more worried than anything else.
I heard everything. I broke free from the chair and saw on the camera that asshole hitting my mate. She didn’t even try to fight back. Which makes no sense, because she is a fighter.
‘Isaiah. It’s over now. She said she would explain everything, right?’
Samson is right. She did say she would explain everything after.
‘Yeah, I’m going into that room as soon as the doctor comes out. She isn’t getting off that bed until I understand what the fuck is going on.’
An hour later, the doctor came out. I stand and walk over. “How is Kaia?” I asked.
“Who are you in relation to the patient?”
“I’m her sister.” Sinclair said. “He’s with me. He’s, our friend.”
Friend? I’m her fucking mate.
The doctor sighed, “Her cheek bone has a hairline fracture. She also has a busted lip and a black eye. Two ribs are also broken. I was more concerned about internal bleeding, but the CT scan she had revealed she was fine internally. Mentally however, I think she should talk to someone. This level of injury was personal for the attacker.”
I feel the fury in me rising. “Can we go see her now?” I asked a little harsher than I meant to ask.
The doctor looked at me with understanding. “I understand your anger. She needs to rest and recover. Keep your temper under control. If you can do that, then you can see her.”
“Thanks, doc.” Sinclair said, and then she pulled me by the arm. “Listen to me, Isaiah. Kaia specifically wanted today’s events to happen. Calm the fuck down. We are not in the pack. We are in the human world. You need to reign it in.”
“How can I be calm?”
“Trust your mate. She didn’t spend months putting this together for you to come in with guns and blazing saddles. So, keep your hat on and let’s go see her.” Sinclair said.
When we went into the room, I growled low. I don’t like seeing her look beat up. Sinclair is the one to break the
tension.
“Damn girl. You look like shit!” She laughed.
“Please tell me you got everything.” She asked Sinclair.
Sinclair pulled two USB drives from her pocket. “Of course I did. One with audio and the other without.”
“I fucking love you!” Kaia said. “Hold on to them for me until we get out of here, okay?”

I can’t take it anymore. I pulled a chair up to her and sit back. “Spill. Now. No more excuses.” I said.
Kaia looked at me with a small smile and sighed. “Okay. I needed evidence of him cheating on me more than three times. I also needed evidence of him abusing me. I did it for the divorce.”
“You subjected yourself to this on purpose?” I asked, not believing what I was hearing.
“Yeah. Although, I didn’t think he would have cement bricks for hands.” She said and added, “My husband values his pride and ego. He values his wealth and self-importance. The only way to make him suffer is to destroy everything he values.”
“And you getting beat up…where does that fall into everything?”
“The prenup.” She said.
“Prenup?”
“Yup.” She grinned and flinched from the pain. “The prenup that his father and my father arranged said that everything goes into my name if he is caught cheating more than three times and is abusive in our relationship. Now I have proof of both.” She finished.
“Yeah, but I thought human divorce took like a year to resolve.” I said. I don’t know how humans handle everything, but it always seems to take extended periods of time to resolve things.
“Yeah, well, my attorney is a barracuda. He will get the divorce fast tracked. He also can’t be paid off by someone like my husband.”
She has really thought it through. “You are clever. I’ll give you that. So, how long before the divorce is finalized then?” I asked.
