His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 777

On the way to the bakery, Niamh explained to Jonathan, "Betty's Bakery... it's a chain in Coralis, with lots of franchises just in the capital... I've bought things a few times from the one on Silver Brook Lane when I've been here before." Jonathan heard the deliberate vagueness in her tone and didn't press for more. He could see that there was something she needed to confirm in person.

After parking the car, they walked into the shop together. "Hi, I'd like to see your cakes," Niamh said at the counter. Jonathan observed that this particular Betty's Bakery was small. The owner was also the baker, with no other employees. "Oh, Miss Rivers! It's been a long time," the owner greeted her warmly.

Niamh was surprised the owner still remembered her. On a previous trip to the capital, she had stumbled upon this shop and bought a mango mousse cake that was so delicious it became her favorite dessert. The owner had been very friendly, and they had chatted for a long time.

As if reading the surprise in Niamh's eyes, the owner quickly explained, "It's been years, but you're so beautiful, I could never forget you!" The owner's face broke into a sweet smile as she complimented Niamh. The owner herself was quite pretty, though no match for a stunner like Niamh. She had been the one to strike up the conversation back then, drawn in by Niamh's beauty, which had made Niamh blush.

"By the way, is this your boyfriend?" the owner asked, her curious eyes flitting over to Jonathan. "No..." Niamh shook her head. "But you two look so perfect together, a real power couple." Niamh could see the owner was dying for a bit of gossip, but she really didn't want to explain her complicated relationship with Jonathan to a stranger.

Just then, Jonathan, standing beside her, spoke up. "I'm pursuing her..." At his words, the owner let out a little "Ooh!" Niamh shot Jonathan a look, a silent warning not to say anything more. Jonathan received and understood the glare, but he simply smiled. "She's a tough one to win over. Do you have any tips for me, ma'am?" "Jonathan!" Niamh snapped. The smile on his face turned into a wry grimace.

Just then, the owner handed him a small cake. "Buy this. Mango mousse. It's her favorite." Jonathan thanked the owner, then bought all three mango mousse cakes from the display case and presented them to Niamh. "For you." Niamh looked at the infuriatingly charming smile on his face and pressed her fingers to her temple. "You bought too many. I can't possibly eat all of these myself."

"We can share some with Marlin?" "He's only one. You can't just feed him anything." "Yes, ma'am." Watching Jonathan's eager-to-please demeanor, the owner couldn't help but lean in and whisper to Niamh, "Miss Rivers, I think this handsome fellow is a keeper. Are you sure you won't consider it?" Niamh pressed her lips together. The owner was just as she remembered: warm-hearted and chatty, but with a friendly familiarity that bordered on having no boundaries.

Just as she was about to refuse, the owner leaned closer and whispered in her ear:
