Scott felt that he should take a leaf out of Hector's book. So, he followed up with a compliment too. "As expected of Shannon, you take full responsibility for anything you've done without shirking. I respect you for that!"
The other elders of the Jensen family were rendered speechless. They hadn't been home much lately. Why did the younger generation seem to have changed drastically?
Linda cleared her throat and looked at Shannon. She didn't berate Shannon. Instead, she said, "Shannon, did Hank offend you in some way? If he's making trouble for you, just tell me."
By saying that, Linda didn't criticize Shannon openly but implied that Shannon was so petty as to take revenge against her own family member for some small conflict. As they were all living under the same roof, her words would cause others to be wary of Shannon.
Caleb, who had been silent all the while, pulled a long face and chastised, "No matter what, Hank is still your cousin. Yet, you retaliated against him because of a small matter. Do you consider us your family, Shannon? If anyone else offends you, are you going to do the same to them too?"
Needless to say, Caleb hit the nail on the head.
Adrian's family didn't harbor any ill feelings toward Shannon, who had just rejoined the family. However, they inevitably started becoming wary of her.
When Shannon decided to make a move against Hank, she had already thought of these issues. Once one crossed a certain threshold, even when they didn't do anything, others would still fear them.
At this moment, Shannon had gotten tired of things always going down this path.
She'd tolerated Rachel for 18 years. Now that her 12th house was completely cut off from the Grays, she didn't see the need to always back down and be a pushover. Today, she had to make an example out of someone.
"Don't worry. The restriction won't harm him in any way. As long as he doesn't speak to me, he can talk to others normally," Shannon said.
"Even so, you can't…" Linda wanted to argue, but Shannon didn't give her the chance to do so.
"He doesn't speak like this to anyone else but me. Why? Is it because I'm an outsider and should be treated differently? What gives others the right to act all high and mighty toward me? And why should I put up with them?"
She said "them" and not "him". Everyone knew who the "them" encompassed.
Shannon rarely took on such a stern and firm approach with the Jensens. Caleb had wanted to criticize her, but he decided to keep his mouth shut upon receiving a warning glare from George.
However, Shannon didn't plan to let him off. Her tone was icy as she spoke to Caleb.
