Eleanor paled at his words. "Are there really ghosts in the mountains? W-What about Olivia? She can't possibly be in danger…"

"Don't worry. I'll find her," Skylar replied. His gaze dropped to the phone in her hands with an adorable, decorative case. Knowing it was Olivia's, he took it over without another word.

Eleanor watched as he pulled out a talisman and pressed it against the phone. Then, he began to chant.

At his final word, the talisman burst into flames. It burned rapidly and turned into ashes within seconds. From the ashes, a thin trail of green smoke formed a thread that floated in a specific direction.

Eleanor stared wide-eyed, but Skylar ignored her. He followed the trail and disappeared into the mountains with the phone still in hand.

This thread of smoke was formed from Olivia's lingering presence on the phone. Once her presence faded, the thread of smoke would vanish too.

This method worked only within a certain range. Anything beyond that needed something more, like a drop of her kin's blood as a guide.
