For some reason, Shannon felt somewhat guilty. It wasn't because of the marriage contract set by their mentor.
Although their mentor had chosen Benjamin as her fiancé, she didn't acknowledge it. Besides, Benjamin wasn't aware of the true meaning of the mark. So, she naturally pretended their marriage didn't exist.
Her guilt stemmed more from using her abilities on Bradley.
Normally, she wouldn't use her mystic arts skills on ordinary people.
The first time was with Sheila when she used a truth talisman on her.
This was the second time.
She didn't have any other choices.
Sometimes, reality was more effective at shutting people up than reasoning.
Fortunately, Benjamin didn't seem to have witnessed what happened earlier.
He simply pointed to the well-behaved fox sitting at his feet and said, "I've brought you your fox."
Shannon felt a bit embarrassed. After all, this wasn't the first time her fox had run off to the Cooper residence.
Not only did the fox like to cozy up to Benjamin, but the baby spirit loved following him around too.
Even her spiritual energy from her spirit-gathering array seemed drawn to him. She often had to check his whereabouts to avoid running into him.
She didn't like causing trouble for others.
But she had undeniably caused quite a bit of trouble for Benjamin.
"I was just about to go get it."
She then paused and added, "I'll keep a closer eye on them to prevent them from bothering you."
Benjamin remained expressionless as he slightly nodded.
Shannon seemed to remember something. She said, "I'll be starting school in a month and a half. After that, I won't need to check in with you to avoid clashes."
"Thank you, Mr. Cooper. It's beautiful."
Shannon carefully placed the box into her handbag and asked, "The banquet has just started. Would you like to join us?"
Benjamin came to give her the gift. Having done so, he was too lazy to go inside.
He remained silent, but his attitude was clear.
Shannon bent down to pick up her fox and was about to say goodbye when he suddenly asked, "What did you do to the Johnsons' son?"
His voice was pleasant but cold. Yet, it was hard for anyone to find it offending nor discern any emotions.
Shannon pursed her lips.
It turned out that he had seen everything.
Since Benjamin had discovered her bullying an ordinary person, there was no point in hiding it. She directly admitted.
