Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 109

"Why are you doing experiments in your room? That's too dangerous. Are you hurt?" Janice asked, looking concerned.

Shannon shook her head. She paused for a bit and said, "I'll be more careful next time."

Janice smiled at her, but Hank interjected discontentedly, "You're doing experiments at home? Don't you know how dangerous that is? What if something explodes? You're not the only one living in this house, you know?"

Since the last incident, Hank had restrained himself a lot. However, this was one of those rare occasions when Shannon was in the wrong. Since Adam and Hector weren't at home, he didn't need to hold back.

Shannon turned to look at him upon hearing his words.

Before she could speak, Scott stepped forward to defend her, questioning, "Nothing happened, right? This is a trivial matter, and Shannon knows what she's doing. It's not like she'll blow the house up."

Hank's expression darkened at how Scott was blatantly defending Shannon. Ever since that incident, Scott changed completely and followed Shannon everywhere she went.

He didn't even join them when they went to the hospital to take Cecily home. Not only that, he even gave her the cold shoulder when she talked to him.

Because of all these abnormalities, Hank suspected that he had been bewitched by Shannon.

As Hank recalled Cecily's crestfallen expression the previous day, his expression further darkened. "How can you be sure that nothing bad will happen? Can you guarantee it on her behalf?"

He then turned to Shannon and rebuked, "Now that you're back in the Jensen household, you can't just do whatever you please without considering others."

He was practically criticizing her for being selfish and ill-mannered.

Scott was about to step forward and argue with Hank, but Shannon lifted her hand that was holding the charred branch to stop him.

She turned to Hank and said, "You're right. There are many people living in this house. I can't just ask others to shut up simply because I find them too noisy."

Her tone sounded calm and non-confrontational, yet it displeased Hank even more.

"Who did you say was noisy?" Hank questioned irritably.

Scott wasn't afraid to incur his wrath. He chuckled and replied, "Whoever responds is the one who's noisy."

"Fine, I'll bet with you! But I'll be the one deciding if you disturbed anyone or not. If you lose, you can't do anything I don't allow in this house."

Hank thought his condition would intimidate Shannon since he would be the judge of their bet. Although the Jensen residence had good soundproofing, it wasn't completely silent. He figured he would eventually catch her doing something that would produce noise and affect others.

Shannon didn't even bother to look at him. "Deal."

Hank asked again, "How do you intend to prove it?"

This time, Shannon finally looked at him and said in a calm tone, "You'll find out tonight."

She didn't linger a second longer and turned to go upstairs, carrying the infant spirit and the branch with her.

Hank looked at her retreating back. When he thought of how she uttered the word "tonight" just now, a chill ran down his spine.

Then again, they were all safe and sound at home. What could go wrong?
