Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1312

Agnes had no idea where Jared was driving them.

And Jared didn’t bother to explain, nor did Agnes ask.

She felt uneasy, the uncertainty gnawing at her.

Trying to sound casual, she turned to Jared and said, “Mr. Whitfield, you can just drop me off here. I’ll catch a cab home.”

Surprisingly, Jared pulled the car to a stop.

Agnes reached for the door handle, ready to make her exit.

But it wouldn’t budge. The car was locked from the inside.

No matter how much she tried, the door wouldn’t open.

Frowning in confusion, Agnes looked at Jared. “Mr. Whitfield...?”

Jared’s sharp gaze locked onto hers.

Their eyes met, and Agnes felt as if her heart had skipped a beat.

There was something about this man’s stare that made her instinctively want to pull away.

Jared’s voice was low, almost a growl. “Home? Which home are you talking about?”

That question caught Agnes off guard.

Where could she go, really?

The Pritchard family estate was technically her home, but it didn’t feel right to return there.

Nor did she want to go back to Elton’s place just yet. Her mind was too cluttered.

In her pocket, Agnes had two sets of keys.

One was to her family home, given to her by Ivan.

The other was to Sunset Gardens, the house Elton had given her.

Agnes had planned to move in there.

He cupped her face with one hand and cradled the back of her head with the other, pressing his lips to hers.

Agnes was taken aback once more.

His unique scent, a clean hint of cedar, filled her senses.

It was strangely alluring, clouding her thoughts.

Her mind screamed to resist, but her body wouldn’t cooperate.

She could only watch as he took what he wanted.

But one kiss wasn’t enough for him.

When his lips began to travel lower, that’s when reality snapped back for Agnes.

She started to struggle in earnest.

But her resistance only seemed to provoke him further, igniting his desire to control.
