Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1300

But looking at that face.

Jared reminded himself silently.

Agnes had lost her memory, forgotten him, and it was truly awful. It tore at his heart.

Yet, she was alive.

Standing right there in front of him.

Nothing mattered more than that.

During the time Agnes had been missing, Jared had pleaded endlessly in his heart.

Just let Agnes survive this ordeal.

No matter what happened, he could accept it, as long as Agnes was alive. He was willing to pay any price.

Even if she didn't remember him, it didn't matter.

Jared spoke gently, "Okay."

Agnes looked at Jared and said, "Your assistant mentioned you haven't had dinner yet. How about I treat you to dinner? We can talk while we eat."

Jared agreed.

They decided to go to Cloud View.

The manager himself brought the menu and handed it to Agnes.

Agnes passed the menu to Jared. "Mr. Whitfield, you should choose. This one's on me."

Agnes felt a bit nervous, probably because of the man's naturally dignified and cool demeanor.

Jared didn't refuse, casually selecting a few dishes before handing the menu back to the manager.

The manager chuckled, "Mr. Whitfield, you always have such a thoughtful selection. You picked all of Mrs. Whitfield's favorite dishes."

Agnes was surprised.

The manager had already left.

Agnes finally asked, "Did we come here often before?"

From what the manager said, they sounded like regulars.

Jared spoke up, "It's not that we were married; we are married. We've always been."

Agnes responded with an "Oh," still feeling a bit off.

She had prepared a ton of questions, but suddenly couldn't remember any of them.

It was Jared who broke the silence, "Agnes, have you truly forgotten all about me?"

Agnes looked into his eyes, and a strange sense of guilt welled up inside her.

Agnes said, "I'm sorry, I really have."

Jared replied, "Don't apologize. It's me who should be sorry, for letting you go through such an ordeal. Agnes, even if you've forgotten everything, it's okay. You're back with me now, and I believe you'll remember one day. From now on, I won't ever leave you again."

Listening to him, Agnes felt uncomfortable.

Agnes hesitated and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Whitfield, things aren't quite as you think..."

Jared realized he had let his emotions get the better of him.

After a night of reflection, Jared finally accepted the reality that Agnes had lost her memory.
