Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1273

Pain...

It was the kind of pain that felt like being reborn, but in the most excruciating way.

Every inch of her skin felt like it was being ripped apart.

Every muscle felt as if it were being meticulously sliced away with a razor-sharp blade.

And her bones, it was as if they were being crushed under the weight of a massive steamroller...

The most unbearable part was her head, where it seemed countless sharp needles were piercing all at once.

Agnes had always thought that being torn apart a thousand times over couldn't feel much worse than this...

She had no idea where she was.

But the sensation was as if her entire body had been plunged into an icy cellar.

Surrounded by cold-blooded serpents, their forked tongues flickering, coiling around her body and constricting her throat.

Her lungs felt as though they were filled with water.

Breathing was impossible.

She was sinking deeper and deeper, as though into a bottomless ocean.

The dim light above grew more distant.

The feeling of suffocation grew stronger.

The waves churned overhead, but the sea around her was eerily calm, enveloping her like the jaws of a demon...

"Ah!!"

Agnes suddenly screamed, her eyes snapping open.

She saw the stark white walls, a chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

And the IV drip connected to her arm.

Her head still throbbed painfully.

But it had all been just a dream.

Why had she dreamed something like that?

Her mind was blank.

She struggled to remember, and then it hit her.

Yesterday had been her eighteenth birthday, and her father had thrown a lavish party at the mansion.

What on earth had happened?

Just then, the door swung open.

Elton stood there, shocked to see Agnes on the floor.

He rushed over, both anxious and relieved. "Agnes, you're awake! Don't move around too much. You've been unconscious for three days. I thought you might never wake up. Thank heavens."

Agnes replied, "I just fell into the pool. It shouldn't have been that serious, right?"

She couldn't believe a prank from Beatrice had led to three days of unconsciousness.

Elton looked puzzled by her words but didn't dwell on it.

He carefully lifted her and placed her back on the bed.

"You’re weak right now, and you have multiple minor fractures, which is why you're in so much pain," Elton explained gently. "But don't worry, I've brought in the best medical team. You'll be back on your feet soon."

Agnes couldn't believe she was injured this badly. She hadn't expected Beatrice's prank to be so vicious.

"Where's Beatrice? She's probably already spun some story to my dad, making herself look innocent," Agnes said with frustration.

Elton was even more confused.

"Agnes, what on earth are you talking about?" he asked, frowning.
