From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent (Anthea ) novel Chapter 428

Jake had a physique that could make even Greek gods envious!

He was a true fitness enthusiast, having worn out three treadmills at home due to his relentless running. His muscles were sculpted to perfection.

Emily was genuinely worried.

Upon hearing this, Laura was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected Emily to suddenly switch gears in the conversation. Looking up at the two people talking in front of her, she chimed in, "Mom, don't be fooled by Claire's slender frame. She's quite the powerhouse! Claire knows how to throw a punch, she's a whiz with first aid, and she can even handle snakes! It's still up in the air who'll come out on top!"

Jake and Lily were evenly matched.

Neither would accept defeat from the other.

"Listen to you, could my granddaughter-in-law be anything but impressive?" Emily said with a mix of pride and coyness.

Laura laughed, "Then what's there to worry about?"

Emily turned to Laura, "Do you know how old Jake is now?"

Laura looked puzzled, "What do you mean?"

"Thirty is prime time for a man! And he's been living like a monk up until now. Do you think Claire can handle the energy?" Emily continued, "Honestly, if Jake wasn't my eldest grandson, I'd be reluctant to introduce Claire to him. I must be the best grandma in the whole universe!"

With that, Emily lifted her chin in a display of mock arrogance.

Laura covered her mouth to suppress a giggle.

Emily then asked, "Did you bring your camera?"

"I did," Laura nodded.

"Hand it over."

Laura fetched the camera from her bag and handed it to Emily.

"Alright, Claire, Jake, let's take a picture," Emily announced.

Lily and Jake glanced towards each other.

They stood, one on the yacht and the other on the deck, with the luxurious yacht and the blue sky with white clouds as their backdrop.

To an ordinary person, this lavish setting would overshadow them, rendering them practically invisible.

But not these two. They were each a force to be reckoned with.

At this moment, both the sea and the yacht became mere backdrops to their presence.

The beautiful moment was captured, frozen in time on the camera's screen.

But given its cold nature, consuming too much of it wasn't ideal for women. After peeling a mangosteen, Jake would switch to peeling an orange.

Emily, while chatting with Lily, squinted at Jake.

The kid was attentive, she noted.

Seeing Laura enter, Lily looked up in surprise, "We're here already?"

Laura smiled, "Yeah, it's been two hours!"

Two hours, over ninety miles.

"I've been so engrossed in chatting with Mrs. Johnson; I didn't even realize two hours had passed."

Emily took a sip of her drink, "Ann, that just shows we have a lot in common! That's crucial when spending time together. Don't end up like some blockheads who can't pull a word out of a conversation. So off-putting! No wonder they can't find a partner!"

Mr. Stoic: "......" Felt personally attacked.

"Let's go!" Emily stood up, linking arms with Lily and Laura, "Let's go explore."

As they were leaving, she looked back at Jake, "Grab our luggage, will you?"

Jake, following with the luggage, trailed behind them.
