Jade heard the roar of the engine as Hudson tore out of the driveway. She slumped against the wall, gasping for air as her adrenaline crashed.
Hudson was becoming more unpredictable by the hour. The madness in him was bubbling to the surface.
She needed that evidence. She needed Silas to finish him.
Buzz, buzz-
Her phone vibrated. She glanced at the screen to see Silas’s name.
She forced her fingers to move and answered. “Mr. Faith.”
Silas was blunt. “I’ve made my move on the Evergreen Project. Also, my detective sent over some interesting photos. I’m forwarding them to you now. They might be useful.”
Jade thought of the frantic call Hudson had just received.
“You moved that fast?”
Silas let out a dry, short chuckle on the other end.
“Ms. Merchant, you set the pace. I’m just keeping up. I don’t like to let my partners down.”
Jade felt a surge of genuine hope. This alliance was real.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Faith. I’m going to find the rest of the evidence.”
Silas sounded intrigued by the steel in her voice.
“You seem even more motivated than before.”
Jade didn’t answer. A bitter, heavy weight settled in her chest, making it hard to breathe.
She had every reason to be motivated. This wasn’t just about a divorce anymore; it was about vengeance for her mother.
“I’ve sent the photos,” Silas continued. “Check them. I’ll keep the pressure on the Walter Group, but for every turn of the screw, I expect a piece of evidence in return. I don’t work for free.”
Jade answered firmly. “Understood.”

After hanging up, Jade sat on the bed for a long time. She finally made a decision.
She was going to tell Jewell Ford the truth about Victor Hales.

Victor was a man with blood on his hands, and his relationship with Jewell was built on a foundation of lies. Jewell had a right to know who was in her bed.
Jade took a deep breath and dialed Jewell’s number. She laid it all out-the connection to Lyndon Spenser, the hit on Ronald Faith, everything.
There was a long, ringing silence on the other end before Jewell finally spoke.
“No wonder you were acting so weird today. So… this is the truth.”
Jade didn’t know what to say. After a few beats, Jewell asked another question.
“You’re trading this for your divorce, right? Is Silas really going to help you? Can he actually take Hudson down?”
Jade answered, “Hudson is powerful, but he’s not the only one. The more pressure Silas and Julian put on the company, the more the Walter family will panic.
“Eventually, they’ll realize the only way to save the empire is to give me the divorce. Hudson will choose his legacy over a marriage he’s already ruined.
“But I have to give them the proof they need. Silas isn’t doing this out of the goodness of his heart. And I can’t do it without them.”
“It’s a business deal. I get that,” Jewell said, let out a long, shaky breath.
“As for Victor… don’t worry about me. I’ll handle it.”
Jade’s voice turned urgent. “Jewell, I told you this so you’d be careful, not so you’d go play hero. Victor Hales is a professional. He’s dangerous. Do not put yourself at risk.”
