She had thought that even if everyone else didn’t care about her, at least she still had Michael.
But the truth proved that even though Michael had been kind to her after her mom passed, comforting her when she was sad, when it came time to make a real choice, she was still the one who got left behind.
Jade walked out of the villa and kept going for a while. Finally, as if all her strength had drained away, she slowly sank to a crouch, curling in on herself as sobs wracked her body.
She had no home anymore.
Neither of the two places she had considered home had room for her now.
Where can I go? Where is left for me to go?
Her phone rang sharply.
Right now, Jade didn’t want to answer anyone’s call. She just wanted to pour out all the bad feelings.
But the phone kept ringing-she had no chance to catch her breath. It just went on and on.
Finally, Jade had to dig her phone out of her bag. Wiping her tears, she accepted the call without even looking to see who it was.
“Hello…” Her voice was thick with congestion.
The person on the other end paused for a second at the sound.
“Where are you?” The voice was low, cold, and thick with suppressed anger.
Jade froze, her breath catching in her throat,
Hudson? Why is it Hudson?
He was always so busy. He used to barely call her a few times a month.
I’ve only been gone for a little over an hour. How has his call caught up to me so fast?
Jade stammered, “I-”
“Jade, where are you right now?” His voice grew even colder and sharper.

Hudson called again. She didn’t answer. Frantically wiping her tears, she hailed a taxi on the street and headed for downtown.
Her plan was to find a hotel to stay in first and figure everything else out later.
Half an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of a downtown hotel. The driver got her suitcase from the trunk. Jade got out and took it from him.
“Thanks.”
But the moment she turned around, she bumped right into someone.
“Sorry-” The apology was automatic. She looked up, and her voice died in her throat. Her feet stumbled back a step.
Hudson stood there, his face like a thundercloud. He didn’t make a scene. He just grabbed her arm, dragged her to a car, and shoved her into the back seat.
The door slammed shut with a heavy thud. Jade’s chin stung as Hudson pinned it in place with his knuckle, holding her still.
“Jade,” he said, his voice dangerously low. “You’ve really got some nerve now, running away from home?”
His accusations slammed into her, breaking the dam on her already fragile emotions.
“Let me go!” she screamed, her voice a raw, sharp cry. Her red-rimmed eyes glared fiercely at him.
Hudson didn’t let go. She kicked out at him with her legs. He easily caught her flailing limbs with his other hand. Jade took the chance to turn her head and bite down hard on the hand holding her chin.
“Hiss-” Hudson sucked in a sharp breath from the pain and had to release her. Jade scrambled into the far corner of the seat, putting as much distance between them as she could.
She hugged her knees to her chest. Her eyes ached, dry and scratchy, as if she had no tears left
to cry.
“That’s your and Amara’s home, not mine. I’m not going back.”
What more do you want? “Jade.” Hudson’s face grew darker and darker. “I came to find you. What more do Throwing a tantrum has its limits. I don’t have endless time for your games. You need to stop
