Chapter 114 The Guardian in the Shadows
“Go inside. I’ll handle the dogs.”
Jade’s mind was a chaotic blur, her face ashen with terror.
“I-”
Julian placed a steadying hand on her shoulder.
“Trust me. I won’t let them find you.”
She had no other options; the sound of the pursuit was getting closer.
Jade nodded and hurried deeper into the luxurious private room.
On her way, she brushed past a man wearing a dark red silk shirt.
The man’s eyes lingered on her face with intense interest before he turned back to Julian. slinging an arm over his shoulder.
“Julian, so that’s your type? Man, you should have told me—”
Julian shot him a look that could have killed. A cold shiver ran down Jeff Mond’s spine, and he shut his mouth instantly.
“The men outside. Deal with them.”
“What?”
Jeff’s face crumpled into a look of pure annoyance.
“You play the white knight and I’m the one who has to clean up the mess?”
“Isn’t this city your playground?” Julian asked. His trip was meant to be secret, and it wasn’t the time for a public Foster intervention.
“Fine, fine.”
Jeff let out a jagged sigh.
“You owe me big time for this.”
Julian gave him a sharp look. “You’ll be compensated. Just go.”

As they spoke, a heavy, demanding knock sounded at the door.
Thud, thud, thud-

Jeff’s expression transformed instantly, his lazy charm replaced by a cold, dangerous edge.
He adjusted his cufflinks and pulled the door open.
“Who the hell is interrupting me?”
The lead guard saw him and immediately bowed his head in respect.
“Mr. Mond, our employer is looking for a trespasser. Would you mind if we did a quick sweep?”
Jeff let out a short, mocking laugh.
“And who exactly is your employer?”
The guard lowered his voice. “We work for Lyndon Spenser of Sunrise Bay.”
Lyndon Spenser?
Jeff’s brow furrowed in a deep, suspicious line.
Wasn’t that man supposed to be overseas for the next decade?
Back in the day, he was a man who lived outside the law. How had Julian’s guest tangled with a rabid dog like that?
Jeff kept his face a mask of bored indifference, a fake smile touching his lips.
“So Lyndon comes back and suddenly thinks he’s God? You have the balls to search my suite? Did I steal something of his?”
A bead of cold sweat rolled down the guard’s forehead.
“Mr. Mond, we didn’t mean to imply-”
Jeff’s face went cold. He was playing hardball, and he wasn’t going to budge.
“I don’t care what you meant. Tell Lyndon if he wants to search my room, he can come and ask me to my face.”
He leaned against the frame, not technically blocking them, but the threat was clear.

“But if you want to force it, go ahead. Just be prepared to pay the price for offending the person inside.”
The guard knew he couldn’t touch Jeff and didn’t have the authority to push further. He gritted his teeth and signaled his team to retreat.
“Apologies for the disturbance, Mr. Mond.”
Inside a second-floor suite.
Lyndon was lounging on a sofa while Amara sat opposite him, looking like a wreck.
Amara was ghost-pale, her voice filled with a sharp, accusatory venom.
“I told you not to come looking for me! Coming here was bad enough, and now there are photos! If those get to Hudson, do you think we can hide what we did?”
Lyndon remained eerily calm. “What’s the rush, baby?”
“I’m the one on the line!” Amara shrieked, bolting to her feet.
“I had everything perfectly timed. I was just waiting for the divorce to be finalized! And then you pull this stunt and ruin everything!”
She glared at Lyndon, her eyes filled with a hatred that could have drawn blood.
“Why the hell did you come back? You’re a curse on my life!”
Lyndon’s eyes turned into cold, reptilian slits.
“When you were cheating on Ronald with me overseas, you seemed to enjoy the curse quite a bit. Now you want the Walter throne and I’m a stranger?”
