The guards took a step forward, making it clear they were prepared to drag her if necessary.

Jade knew she couldn’t win a physical fight, especially while protecting her

pregnancy.

So in the end, Jade left her luggage with security and climbed into the back of the Maybach.

Michael Merchant watched her go, but seeing the guards, he slunk away into the shadows.

Jade watched his cowardice through the window, the last ember of warmth in her heart going

out.

Riverside District villa.

When Jade reached the rooftop, she saw Amara balanced precariously on the edge of the railing.

Hudson and the police were in a tense standoff with her, the air thick with desperation.

Amara’s eyes

fixed on Jade instantly, her gaze filled with a murderous intensity.

“Jade Merchant! Are you happy now? Seeing me like a rat in the street because of you?”

Jade met her wild stare with a look of absolute, glacial calm.

“Explain exactly what you think I’ve done to warrant this.”

She had assumed this was about her father and Robert.

But the scene suggested something far more twisted.

Hudson approached her, his first words out of his mouth being an accusation.

“You took that photo in the bedroom. Now it’s viral. Amara is being destroyed. Was this your doing?”

The news of the leak caught Jade off guard, but she didn’t flinch.

“I didn’t leak anything.”

“Your family admitted you sent them to attack my home and humiliate me! And then the photo appears! Every road leads to you!”

Jade dug her nails into her palms, fighting to maintain her composure under the assault.

“Whatever Cindy and Robert did, they did on their own. I’ve been in Harbor City until this afternoon.”

“You’re the only one with that photo! Who else could have posted it?!” Hudson’s tone was full of doubt.

Jade felt the familiar squeeze of disappointment in her chest, her nails biting into her skin.

She kept telling herself in mind. “Don’t panic. No one’s going to save you but you. Stay sharp!”

She kept her voice flat and analytical, refusing to let them see her break.

“I took that photo to secure my divorce. John already promised to finalize the split for me. Why would I stir up more drama?”

Hudson faltered, but Amara’s voice rose to a shrill, hysterical pitch.

“Because you never wanted the divorce! This is just a sick game to you! You’re a manipulator, Jade!”

Jade watched Amara’s performance with a look of cold, mounting disgust.

Amara continued her tirade, her body shaking with a staged, violent tremor.

“You’re preying on us because we have no backup! Do you want me dead? Is that the only thing that will satisfy you?”

“I never said I wanted that,” Jade responded.

Hudson cut her off with a sharp, authoritative bark.

“Jade! That’s enough! Apologize to her right now!”

Jade’s hand clenched until her knuckles turned white.

“I will not apologize for something I didn’t do.”
