Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 496

Grace had just gotten home when her phone buzzed.

It was a text from Elliot: [The process with the DA’s office is moving faster than expected. The request to unfreeze Ivy’s accounts has also been submitted.]

Grace stared at the words on the screen and breathed a sigh of relief.

“What is it? Good news?”

Damien turned to look at her.

“Yeah,” Grace nodded. “The embezzlement case should be resolved soon.”

“That’s good.”

Damien sat down beside her, wrapped a long arm around her, and pulled her into his embrace. “So, shouldn’t you be thinking about how to reward me?”

“Reward?” Grace glanced at him sideways. “Mr. Clarke, this was clearly Mr. Ashcombe’s work.”

“Elliot is a police officer; that’s his duty. But I…” Damien leaned in close, his warm breath tickling her neck. “I had to call in a lot of personal favors to find Lucian Chow, and now I owe a bunch of people in Kaelia. Mrs. Clarke, how are we going to settle this debt?”

The way he said “Mrs. Clarke” sent a flush creeping up Grace's neck.

“Stop it.” She gave him a push, but he didn’t budge.

Damien let out a low chuckle.

It was late December, and the festive holiday spirit was growing stronger.

“Grace! I’m back!”

A booming voice preceded the front door of the Clarke family villa being pushed open.

Lottie Grant had returned.

A handsome Italian man followed behind her, dragging two enormous suitcases.

“Where’s my precious Gianna? Let Aunt Lottie give you a kiss!”

Gianna was sitting on the living room rug, listening to old Mrs. Clarke tell a story.
