Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 369

Night fell, but the lights in the research and development department were still blazing.

Grace sat in her chair and, in front of everyone, uploaded an encrypted file to a “Top Secret” folder on the internal server.

“Listen up, everyone,” she said, standing up to address the team. “This is the final version of our proposal for the new energy storage project. It will be sealed and sent for review first thing tomorrow morning. Until then, no one besides me is to view or copy this file.”

After speaking, she rubbed her temples, looking exhausted. “My back is acting up, so I’m going to lie down in the break room for a bit. Mr. Blake, you keep an eye on things.”

“Of course, Ms. Hart, don’t you worry!”

Mr. Blake was a man in his forties who had always seemed honest and unassuming.

Perhaps brimming with confidence about their proposal, his response was particularly loud and clear.

Grace went to the top floor and entered Damien’s private lounge. But instead of lying down, she pulled up the security footage.

Damien sat in an armchair beside her, playing with a lighter, its blue flame flickering on and off.

Time ticked by.

Three in the morning.

The R&D department was empty on the monitor.

Grace yawned, just as Damien said, “Here he comes.”

She immediately focused on the screen.

Mr. Blake crept back into the room.

He glanced around and, after confirming he was alone, tiptoed to Grace’s computer. He pulled out a special USB drive and inserted it.

The screen’s glow illuminated his face.

“Hmph.”

Damien let out a cold, unreadable laugh.

Less than a minute later, Mr. Blake unplugged the USB drive. Just as he breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave, all the lights in the department suddenly flashed on.

The blinding white light made him instinctively shield his eyes.

“Mr. Blake, where are you taking our core secrets so late at night?”
