Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 253

“You’re awake?”

A thick voice came from outside the door.

Grace turned her head.

Calder walked in, wearing an ill-fitting groom's suit with a large red flower pinned to his chest.

He walked straight to the bed and sat down, staring at her with an obsessed expression.

His gaze was no longer simpleminded but filled with raw, greedy possession.

“Grace… no, wifey.”

Calder reached out, trying to touch Grace’s face.

“You’re so beautiful. Prettier than an angel.”

Grace desperately turned her head, dodging his filthy hand.

“Get away! Calder, do you have any idea that this is illegal?!”

“Let me go! Or I’ll call the police!”

Calder paused for a moment, then chuckled stupidly.

“Call the police? There’s no signal in this village. My dad pulled out the phone lines.”

“The police can’t get here.”

“Besides, my dad said that once we’ve done the deed, you’ll be my wife. In our village, once you’re in the bridal chamber, you’re family.”

“Even if the police did come, it’d just be a spat between a husband and wife. They won’t get involved!”

Ignorant. Barbaric.

Grace was about to go mad from the absurd logic.

“Where are my grandparents? What have you done to them?”

At the mention of her grandparents, Calder’s eyes flickered.

“They’re… they’re having a drink.”

“My dad’s with them. Don’t worry. As long as you’re a good girl and give me a big, healthy son, I’ll be sure to take good care of them.”

He was threatening her.

Grace closed her eyes in despair.

Was she really going to be buried in this backward, ignorant village?

She would rather die!

“Calder.”

Grace suddenly opened her eyes, her voice softening.

There was a hint of a plea in it.

“Could you please untie me first?”

“I want some water. I’m so thirsty.”

Hearing his “wife” speak to him so gently, Calder nearly melted.
