Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 252

“Marry my Calder, and I’ll take care of your grandparents until the day they die.”

“But if you refuse…”

“Then don’t blame me for being unreasonable. Tomorrow, I’ll throw those two old folks out to the wolves!”

Shameless!

Despicable!

Grace was shaking with rage.

But she knew she couldn’t fight him head-on.

This was his territory.

“I… I need to think about it.”

Grace used a stalling tactic.

“This is a big decision. I should at least be able to discuss it with my grandfather, right?”

Mr. Fenwick narrowed his eyes, studying her for a long moment, as if trying to gauge the truth in her words.

Finally, he tapped his pipe on the sole of his shoe.

“Fine. I’ll give you one night.”

“Calder has already taken your grandparents back.”

“You should go back, too.”

“But…” Mr. Fenwick gave a sinister smile. “Don’t even think about running. These mountains stretch for miles, and they’re full of wild animals.”

“You’ll never get out of here without me to guide you.”

Grace didn’t know how she made it back to the old house.

Her legs felt like jelly.

When she got home, Grandpa was still passed out, and Grandma was crying softly beside him.

Seeing Grace return, Grandma rushed over and hugged her.

“Grace, let’s go! Let’s leave right now!”

“We can’t stay here! This place is a lion’s den!”

Grace looked out the window at the pitch-black night.

Leave?

Where would they go?

It was dark outside, and the mountain roads were treacherous.

Besides, Grandpa was so drunk he couldn’t even walk.

“It’s okay, Grandma. Don’t be afraid.”

Grace swallowed her own fear to comfort her grandmother.

“Let’s get some sleep tonight. First thing in the morning, we’ll sneak away before they notice.”

That night, Grace slept fully clothed, clutching the scalpel tightly in her hand.

She didn’t dare to fall asleep.

The wind howled outside, sounding like ghosts and wolves.
