Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3105

Damian came up to let him know Circe was safely upstairs and asked if he wanted to come out and grab a drink.

"You guys go ahead," Xavier said, lighting a cigarette with a stoic expression.

Damian hesitated, struggling to keep his thoughts to himself before finally speaking up. "Boss, we all see what's going on with Norah. She's a rich girl. She could be out shopping or partying on the weekends, but instead, she's here waitressing for us. Why do you think that is?"

"I know what's going through your head, but Norah isn't like other girls. It's been years. You owe her an answer by now."

Xavier kept his head down, taking a drag from his cigarette in silence.

Damian tried again. "Honestly, I don't think you need to overthink it. She didn't just wake up one day and decide she liked you. How many girls would stick around this long with zero encouragement? You should trust her."

Xavier looked up, his voice cold. "Just because she likes me means I have to be with her?"

He exhaled a heavy cloud of smoke. "I know I owe her closure. I've got it handled. Go get your drink and stay out of it."

Damian had a sinking feeling he knew what Xavier was planning. "Boss, you better think this through," he warned with a frown.

"Love and real life are two different things. You expect her to spend the rest of her life in this barbecue joint?" Xavier's voice was hoarse and sharp. "I've thought it through."

Knowing there was nothing else to say, Damian closed the door and left.

Xavier crushed his cigarette into the ashtray, turned off the lights, and went to bed.

The muffled sound of laughter and talking from the other room didn't bother him; he was used to it. But tonight, the moonlight streaming into the room was driving him crazy.

He couldn't help but curse under his breath. Didn't they say it was going to rain?

Why was the moon so damn bright?

Tossing and turning, Xavier finally drifted off, only to be jolted awake when he felt something brush against him in his sleep.

A massive crack of thunder shook the room, and in the flash of lightning, he saw exactly what was on his bed: Circe.

Startled by both Xavier and the thunder, the kitten stared at him with wide, pitiful eyes.
