Sylvia lifted her glass, but instead of taking a sip, she looked toward Mrs. Farley. “Mrs. Farley, I think I saw your daughter earlier when I arrived. Since Jolin is here as well, why not invite her to join us? It would be good for everyone to meet, let bygones be bygones, and make things easier in the future.”
Mrs. Farley blinked in surprise. “Jolin’s here too?”
Sylvia smiled warmly and nodded. “I’m pretty sure she’s somewhere in the hotel.”
Mrs. Farley glanced at Greg, forcing an awkward laugh as she pulled out her phone. “Ms. Jarvis is right. I’ll give Jolin a call right now.”
She dialed her daughter’s number. “Jolin, are you at the hotel?”
Jolin didn’t catch on immediately and answered without thinking, “How did you know?”
“So you are here!” Mrs. Farley’s eyes flickered as she noticed Sylvia’s gaze on her. She quickly added, “Are you having dinner with friends? Your father and I are here too—why don’t you come over for a bit?”
She gave Jolin the private dining room number.
Mrs. Farley didn’t expect her daughter to actually show up, but to her surprise, Jolin agreed right away. “Sure, I’ll be there in a minute!”
“We’ll wait for you!”
After hanging up, Mrs. Farley looked at Greg, worry clouding her eyes. She feared Jolin would say something reckless and ruin the fragile truce they’d just managed to reach.
Greg could only hope his daughter would be a little more sensible this time.
Three minutes later, Jolin entered the room.
