Brandon scoffed. “Why do you two have to meddle in the Mercer family’s business? You can see your ‘future son-in-law’ anytime. Why now? Don’t tell me you two have your eyes on Lillian’s marital assets, planning to claim it for yourselves. Besides, Ms. Ward, Dad has given you plenty over the years. Are you telling me you can’t even afford a proper marital assets for Bella? Dad already gave you a huge apartment, one you picked out yourselves. Don't be so greedy as to want Lillian's marital assets too.”
Brandon didn't care about saving face anymore; he just laid it all out on the table.
Sabrina’s features contorted, her face darkening with a flash of fury. “Martin, look at him…” she pleaded.
Martin felt a headache coming on. “Enough!” he roared, silencing them. “All you do is bicker! Aren’t you tired of it? I know I am! Look where you are! Isn’t it bad enough that you’re embarrassing us in someone else’s home?”
The Mercer family had been the first to arrive for the marital assets return. Sebastian, who had been staying at the Blake estate recently, hadn't even shown up yet. Only the villa’s maids were there, serving them drinks as the family immediately started taking passive-aggressive shots at each other. With Sebastian’s staff watching, Martin felt a profound sense of humiliation.
Just as his words fell, Sebastian arrived with his parents.
The car stopped, and the elder Blakes got out first, their eyes immediately taking in the scene inside. The entire Mercer family was here?
Seeing this, Old Mr. Blake let out a cold snort. “How dare they?”
“Calm down,” Mrs. Blake said, afraid he would get too angry. “Let’s just be fair and impartial witnesses. We just need to make sure they don’t take advantage of Lillian.”
