But he hadn't expected to get so angry over a single phone call. What infuriated him most was that Sebastian still showed no hint of remorse toward Lillian.

“Dad, are you suggesting I shouldn't let her take her marital assets? Do you want me to be accused of stealing it later? Even if I could handle that, could the Blake family’s reputation?”

“You have the nerve to talk about the Blake family's reputation? Which one of your recent actions hasn't been utterly shameless?” Old Mr. Blake shot back.

Sebastian couldn't be bothered to explain himself. It was pointless. No matter what he said, his father would find fault with him.

Mrs. Blake saw that her husband was still holding the phone and quickly took it from him. It wouldn't do to have them arguing while Lillian was left hanging on the line.

“Alright, stop fighting,” she said, then spoke into the phone. “Lillian, are you still there?”

Lillian replied, “Yes, Mrs. Blake, I’m here.”

“Good girl. We’ll be there on time.”

“Thank you,” Lillian said.
