“Alright, I trust your judgment.”
Lillian came from a family of jewelers. Her mother’s side of the family, the Lancasters, specialized in the jewelry business, though other branches of the family managed it now. Still, Lillian had grown up by Eleanor Lancaster’s side, and she had absorbed a great deal over the years.
Furthermore, her grandmother was also an expert in the field and had studied it extensively. Lillian had an unerring instinct for the genuine, a sharp eye that could strip away the fluff to see a gem's true worth.
Anything she set her sights on was bound to be exceptional.
The next few items went up for auction, and it seemed the auction house had deliberately arranged for the most valuable pieces to be presented last.
Lillian didn't see anything else she liked. Besides, she was happy to let Bella and Sebastian have their moment.
She sincerely hoped they could get everything they needed for their wedding at the auction, which would allow them to get married as soon as possible.
After all, a couple so perfectly suited for each other deserved to be together.
Lillian truly wanted to see them united, so when she saw something she even remotely liked, she didn't compete for it at all.
So far, neither Sebastian nor Bella had noticed that she and Leonard were there.
Then again, Sebastian and Bella weren’t paying attention to the audience.
“Nothing you like?”
Even Leonard could see that Lillian was intentionally holding back.
Lillian offered a faint smile.
“You don’t have to keep letting her win. She’s already bought quite a few things.”
Lillian leaned close to Leonard’s ear and whispered, “I’m not just letting her win; I’m helping them out. I’m not helping her get more jewelry, but helping them tie the knot faster so they can be each other's problem forever.
“Did you see? Everything Bella’s touched tonight practically screams 'wedding,' from the cuts to the stones. If I’m not mistaken, they’re shopping for their wedding.
“So, to ensure their marriage proceeds smoothly and happens as quickly as possible, I’m willing to help them along.
