Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 93

After falling asleep that night, Emma didn’t wake up for several days.

She developed a high fever in the middle of the night, and Evan immediately called Dr. Morrison to come over.

Somehow, Daniel had gotten word of the situation and arrived at the Heights no more than ten minutes after the doctor.

“What’s going on? I heard something happened to Emma today.”

Daniel walked in, kicking off his shoes and making himself right at home.

He and Evan had been friends for seven or eight years, a bond forged long before Evan had made his fortune. Daniel headed straight for the second floor, only pausing at the bedroom door to look back at Evan. “Is Emma decent? Can I go in?”

Evan grunted in affirmation. “Dr. Morrison is in there too.”

Hearing that, Daniel pushed the door open without any further hesitation.

Emma lay on the bed, her eyes closed. Her lips were ghostly pale, but her cheeks were flushed with fever.

Dr. Morrison was taking her temperature. He pulled out the thermometer and read it: 100.5°F.

“She has a bit of a fever, but it’s not too high. I’ll give her a fever-reducing shot and prescribe some medication.”

Daniel watched as Dr. Morrison prepared a syringe from his medical bag. He took a step back, bumping into Evan. “She’s got a fever. Why isn’t she in a hospital instead of toughing it out at home?”

“We went. She didn’t want to stay, so I brought her back.”

Daniel pursed his lips and shot Evan a sideways glance. “You two are something else… This is one time you shouldn’t have listened to her. She needs to be in a hospital.”

“That’s enough. Don’t talk so loud, you’ll disturb her.”
