Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 89

Nathan had always been short-tempered, but he had never lost his patience with Vivian in public like this.

Vivian froze for a moment, a flash of hurt in her eyes that she quickly concealed.

Emma looked at the uncomfortable young woman, then at the cold-faced Nathan beside her, a flicker of curiosity about their relationship sparking within her. But she chose not to ask.

“I'm sorry. Vivian can be a bit forward with people.”

Nathan was apologizing on Vivian's behalf.

Emma gave a polite nod. “It's fine.”

The three of them stood there for another moment before Emma, unable to bear the awkward atmosphere any longer, decided to walk away.

The main hall was enormous. Beyond it lay a pool and a grove of palm trees. It was much quieter outside compared to the noise and chatter inside; you could even hear the chirping of insects from the grove.

Averton City wasn't on the coast, so it was clear the host had spent a fortune to have these palm trees transported and planted here.

The night was dark, with a thick blanket of black clouds overhead. Below, a pale blue, infinity-edge pool rippled gently.

Emma walked a little further, looking for a place to sit. Her steps were light. Just as she sat down, she heard a sound from the palm grove behind her.

At first, it was faint and muffled, but as she listened more closely, she could make out a woman's suppressed moans and a man's heavy breathing.

Emma's face flushed. Realizing what was happening, she prepared to leave quietly, but someone suddenly shouted, “What are you doing in there!”
