Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 32

She didn't know why he had called so many times.

Emma opened her messaging app, went to their chat, and sent a single question mark before turning off the screen again.

She took a cab to the hospital and found the hematology department. A few days after her last visit, she was once again sitting in Dr. Allen’s office.

It was already seven in the evening, and there were no more patients waiting outside. When Nathan saw Emma, a flicker of surprise crossed his face.

“What is it?”

He put down the chart he was reviewing and looked at her.

“Dr. Allen, I passed out last night. My whole body ached, and my nose wouldn't stop bleeding.”

As she spoke, Emma took off the sunglasses she had been wearing since she left the house.

Only then did Nathan notice that she wasn't wearing any makeup. Her small face was deathly pale, and she looked even worse than before.

She was wearing a thick fur coat with a red scarf wrapped around her neck, as if she was very cold.

Nathan instinctively frowned. “If you were sick and bleeding uncontrollably last night, why didn't you come to the hospital then? Why wait until now?”

“I passed out,” Emma said.

“You passed out? Is there no one else at home? Couldn't someone else have brought you here?”

Nathan's frown deepened. He didn't believe her story, thinking she was lying and deliberately neglecting her own health.

Emma didn't say anything more in response. She just asked, “So what should I do now?”

The previous night had been terrifying. If she hadn't been lucky, she probably wouldn't be here now.
