Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 248

Figuring it was their party and not worth causing a scene, Vivian just smiled, said nothing more, and walked away.

As soon as Vivian left, Trevor was called away by someone else, leaving Emma and Evan alone in that spot.

Evan looked down at the woman who was still half a head shorter than him even in high heels. He didn't speak, just looked her up and down before saying quietly, “Don’t wear this makeup again.”

Emma was speechless.

At the Kingsbridge Park residences.

Melissa got home very late. She had received a message from Evan in the evening saying he had a party to attend and would be back late, so she shouldn’t wait up for him.

She was just about to leave the hospital when she saw the message. Instead of rushing home, she stayed and had dinner with her father, only heading back to Kingsbridge Park at a leisurely pace afterward.

By the time she got home it was already ten o’clock. After she showered and got ready for bed, she saw it was nearly midnight, but Evan still hadn’t returned.

In the vast, empty house, Melissa sat alone on the living room sofa, the TV playing in the background as she waited for Evan, her mind elsewhere.

For some reason, the words her father had spoken to her a few days ago slowly resurfaced in her mind.

It was true. No one stays young and beautiful forever, but there will always be someone who is. Right now, she was young, but what did that matter?

There were countless young women out there coveting Evan. If one left, thousands more would rush to take her place.

To secure an important and lasting position by his side, she knew she had to start thinking about the future.
