Absolutely not!
If Nathan came over, she wouldn't be able to go out tonight, whether there was a real problem or not.
Deep down, Emma had started to develop a fear of Nathan, the kind of fear a student has for a strict teacher.
"No, no, I'm fine. I just need a minute to rest."
Emma waved her hand dismissively. The twenty thousand in her account sparked an idea. She turned to Kelly and said, "Kelly, could you do me a favor and go to my place? In the back of my closet, there's a silver dress. Could you bring it here for me?"
A dress?
Kelly found the request a bit odd, but it was her boss's order, so she didn't ask questions. She just carefully noted the dress's location, took Emma's car keys, and left the hospital room.
Emma was staying in a private room at a private hospital, with a high-end private nurse. Her daily medication alone cost over a hundred thousand dollars.
So, the thought of spending two hundred thousand on a new dress was out of the question. She remembered the one she'd bought for a charity gala with Evan and had Kelly go get it.
She felt a little relieved. When she moved, she'd considered getting rid of it but couldn't bring herself to toss such an expensive and beautiful dress that she'd only worn once. If she had, she'd be spending the same amount, or more, all over again. What a waste that would have been!
In just half an hour, Kelly returned with the dress box.
By then, Emma was feeling a bit better. She checked the time. It was already 4:00 PM. The dinner started at 6:30 PM. She had told Evan not to pick her up; she would drive herself.
