Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 196

Having been married to Mrs. Hayes for thirty years, Mr. Hayes knew her temper better than anyone.

"Let him finish talking first. Don't get physical."

Mrs. Hayes stared furiously at Evan kneeling on the floor, panting with rage. "Wait for him to finish? Didn't you hear what he just said? It was him! He's the one who wronged my daughter first!"

Robert looked at Emma, his eyes filled with sympathy, but he still wanted to confirm it. "Is that true, Emma?"

He desperately wanted to hear her deny it. He would rather his own daughter have wronged Evan than have his daughter be hurt by him, but—

"Yes, Dad. That's what happened."

Emma nodded calmly. At this point, there was no need to hide anything. It was best to tell the truth.

"You! You! You bastard!"

The usually good-natured Robert's eyes reddened with anger. His already small frame seemed to shrink even more, and he looked at Evan with bitter disappointment.

And to think he had just been defending him to Mrs. Hayes. Was this how he repaid him by treating his daughter?

Mrs. Hayes paced back and forth in the room, fuming. If Mr. Hayes hadn't been holding her back, she would have kicked the man kneeling on the floor.

The one thing Mrs. Hayes hated most in the world was marital betrayal. The reason she and her mother had suffered so much during her childhood was because her father had taken all their money and run off with his mistress. Because of that, she couldn't go to school when she wanted to, and her mother's frail body had to endure hard labor to support their family.

"I could just kill him!"

Mrs. Hayes stood with her hands on her hips, continuing to pace as she glared fiercely at Evan.
