Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 167

Evan took off his black overcoat, revealing a plaid shirt layered under a white sweater.

He rolled up the cuffs of his sweater and shirt, exposing a pair of strong, well-defined arms. Under the cool white light overhead, his skin looked fair and clear, giving him a clean-cut appearance.

Standing next to Eric, the difference between a mature man and a young boy was immediately apparent.

Mrs. Hayes saw this but didn’t stop him, only saying, “Evan, you go rest. Eric can handle this.”

“It’s alright, Mrs. Hayes. I’ll wash with Eric.”

Evan smiled at Mrs. Hayes and at Emma, who was standing beside her.

Until he received their explicit permission, he always addressed Mr. and Mrs. Hayes politely and respectfully.

When Eric saw that Evan was actually going to help him with the dishes, he was ecstatic. “Evan! Evan! You’re a lifesaver!” he exclaimed.

He then raised two hands covered in soapy foam.

If the situation allowed, Emma thought, Eric probably would have thrown himself at Evan for a hug.

The image of her brother fawning over Evan made the corners of Emma’s mouth lift into a slight smile. Just then, Evan looked up and saw it.

Seeing Emma seemingly smile at him, Evan thought he was mistaken. When a second look confirmed it, his heart skipped a beat.

Before his mind could process it, his own lips curved into a smile, returning one to Emma.

But then he saw her look away as if she hadn’t seen a thing, her expression returning to its usual cool indifference.

Emma turned away, deliberately avoiding the man behind her.
