Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 138

Seeing her like this, Evan didn’t get annoyed. He patiently touched her blanket again, gently shaking the hand she had exposed to grip it. “Come on, Emma. Eat a little something before you go back to sleep, alright?”

“Emma... Emma—”

“Get away from me! What do you want!”

Finally losing her patience, the woman on the bed threw off the covers and snapped at him.

Emma glared at him, her face etched with frustration. She had been in a terrible mood all day, and Evan’s persistent prodding was the last straw. She couldn’t help but yell.

After her outburst, the room fell completely silent.

Evan just looked at her, a bewildered expression on his face, as if he was still processing what had just happened.

Emma belatedly realized her tone had been too harsh. She hadn’t meant for it to come out like that, but...

“Sorry, I’m just not in a good mood today.”

She shifted and turned her back to him.

Under the warm glow of the bedside lamp, the soup on the nightstand was still steaming. The room was filled with a curious mix of faint sandalwood and the savory aroma of the soup.

It wasn't unpleasant, but it wasn't exactly pleasant either.

Evan looked at the woman’s back, his fists clenching slightly. Then, a gentle smile returned to his lips. “It’s okay, Emma. If you really don’t want to eat, I’ll take the soup out. When you’re ready, I can bring it back in, okay?”

“Mm.”
