Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 106

Emma had rarely experienced a rage like the one she felt today, not since she'd gotten sick.

She felt like a stranger to herself, yet a familiar feeling was slowly returning to her body. It was as if a part of her DNA had been reawakened.

Emotions that had been suppressed for so long burst forth uncontrollably.

Still fuming, Emma let go of Evan's collar, turned, and grabbed a vase from the cabinet. She smashed it violently to the ground. That wasn't enough. She then pulled down the ceramic decorations hanging on the wall and hurled them all to the floor.

Evan stared at Emma, who seemed to have gone mad. He was stunned, and before he could even process why she was having such a sudden outburst, he saw her jump onto the bed, walk to the headboard, and take down the wedding photo from the year they were married.

"No, don't!"

His words were barely out before a loud crash echoed through the room. The glass frame hit the floor, shattering into countless pieces.

In the photo, the young man and woman embraced, looking at the camera with innocent smiles and love in their eyes. But now, the glass was pulverized. Among the countless fractures, one particularly long crack ran right between the two of them, as if foretelling their complete and final separation.

After smashing the frame, Emma's strength seemed to desert her. She stopped breaking things and collapsed onto the bed, deflated. She hugged her head and curled into a ball, overwhelmed with misery.

Evan stared at the shattered wedding photo on the floor. He slowly walked over and knelt, trying to salvage something, but a shard of glass cut his hand.

Blood welled up, dripping onto the frame.

Neither of them spoke. After a long silence, once Emma had cried her fill and composed herself, she lifted her head and looked at Evan, who was still crouching by the photo. "Let's get a divorce. We'll go to the courthouse tomorrow. I'm tired. I'm so, so tired..."
