Eclara City.
Silas Blackwood was suddenly burning up with a high fever. All kinds of antibiotics and fever reducers proved entirely useless.
After checking him, Theia realized what was happening.
"I knew Corvus wouldn't let Silas go so easily."
"Mom, what do you mean?" Harold asked in confusion.
"Corvus injected a virus into your father's body," Theia said, wiping the sweat from Silas's forehead, looking absolutely devastated. "The virus causes a relentless high fever. No matter how strong someone is, they can only hold out for two days unless they take his specially made antidote."
But—
Knowing what kind of monster Corvus was, how could he possibly hand over the antidote?
"Without the antidote, we just have to watch Dad die?" Harold's face instantly paled. He turned around, ready to storm out. "I'm going to find a way to get the antidote."
"There's no time."
Theia's eyes turned red. "We only have one day. It's completely impossible to develop an antidote in time."
Harold froze in place, his face grim.
Just as mother and son were drowning in despair, the hospital room door was suddenly pushed open, and Shanley strode in.
"Mrs. Sommers, I got the antidote."
"The antidote?"
Theia took the vial, sniffed it, and asked in astonishment, "Shanley, how did you get this?"
"Corvus released it," Shanley explained in a low voice. "Maybe Juniper made another deal with him."
At the mention of her, a faint smile graced the man's face.
At the very least, it proved she was okay.
"Mrs. Sommers, please give Mr. Blackwood the antidote first," Shanley reminded her.
"Right."
Theia didn't dare delay. After Silas took the medicine, his high fever quickly broke.
"The composition of this antidote is highly complex. It's impossible to replicate it in a short amount of time."
Theia sat on the couch, looking utterly exhausted. "For Corvus to hand over the antidote, Juniper must have done something."
"Don't worry too much."
Ebony Fox walked in carrying lunch. She kept her head down, organizing the boxes, her tone subdued. "With Juniper's temper, she won't let herself be taken advantage of."
"If anything..."
