There was no way Nancy was going to swallow such a humiliation. She raised her hand to strike back.
Halfway up, her hand was intercepted mid-air by Maeve.
"If you want to hit my man, you'd better ask for my permission first."
"You carved out Charlie's heart, and now you want to kill my baby, right?"
Leaning close to Nancy's ear, Maeve dropped her voice to a whisper only the two of them could hear.
"Don't rush it. We have a long road ahead of us. Just wait until I slowly dismember you."
She delivered the word 'dismember' with a touch of softness, yet dripping with pure malice.
Giving Nancy a hard shove, Maeve shot Andres a look.
"Let's go."
If Lawrence hadn't caught her from behind, Nancy would have fallen flat on her face.
Watching the White family's motorcade speed off, Nancy, burning with nowhere to vent her fury, turned her wrath on Lawrence.
"Why the hell did this happen?"
She had been one step away from crushing Maeve like an ant, only to have her own family blow up the entire plan.
Only after the cars disappeared from sight did Lawrence speak. "Letting her go was your father's order. I'm just following instructions."
Nancy was seething.
"Why would my dad give an order like that?"
Lawrence gestured for her to get in the car.
"Your father will likely give you the answer to that himself. Get in, Nancy. I'll take you home."
At the same time, Andres was busy checking on Maeve.
"Are you sure they didn't hurt you?"
Even though Maeve was dead on her feet, she forced her eyelids open, trying her hardest to stay conscious.
"I made sure they knew I was pregnant right when I was arrested. Those grunts just follow orders from above. There was no way they were going to catch a murder charge for someone completely unrelated to them."
Seeing how unfazed Maeve was, Andres lost his own composure.
"Something this massive happens, and you don't seem worried in the slightest."
Maeve massaged her aching temples.
