A sharp pang of jealousy flared in Andres's chest. "What's so interesting about a plastic-looking pretty boy like that?"
Maeve finally pulled her focus together and actually looked at the singing idol. "He's fine. Teenage girls love that androgynous look. Why else would he be so famous?"
Andres's voice dripped with sourness. "So you like it too?"
Catching the blatant jealousy in his tone, Maeve burst out laughing. "Whitty, how do you manage to get jealous of literally everyone?"
She didn't even know the guy's name, and even if she did, she was the last person on earth who would ever waste time fangirling over a celebrity.
Andres completely owned his jealousy. "You know Millie White has an older sister named Lucia, right?"
Maeve blinked, needing a moment to connect the dots. Finally, she remembered that Millie White was not only Andres's niece but also a fellow student at Aethelburg University. Millie had once tried to scheme against her from the shadows over Mateo Fulton. Unluckily for Millie, her tactics were so pathetic that Maeve never even considered her a threat.
"Why bring her up?" Maeve asked.
Andres used the opportunity to slide closer on the sofa. "Lucia is a bit older than me. A few years ago, she became dangerously obsessed with a rookie idol who had just debuted. She threw massive tantrums, threatening to end her life if she couldn't have him. They secretly got married, but it didn't even last a year. When they divorced, the guy walked away with half her fortune and used the cash to sugar-daddy a college student on the side."
Maeve clicked her tongue in amusement. "Showbiz is wild."
Andres playfully poked her forehead as a mild punishment. "How did you completely miss the point of my story? I'm telling you not to be fooled by these entertainers. Aside from a passable face, they have nothing to offer. They'll only ever talk business with you; they'll never give you real loyalty."
