Anya kept her head down, her complexion pale and exhausted.
As the distance between her and Maeve closed, a flash of pure venom cut through Anya's eyes.
Maeve not only caught the malice, but she also noticed an interesting detail in Anya's demeanor.
Her face looked gaunt, a shadow looming over her features.
It seemed this idiot was going to be tangled up in a lawsuit very soon.
Elena had never been able to stand Anya's attitude.
So, she deliberately raised her voice for Maeve. "The vice principal wants you in his office. It probably has to do with the Grover Group wanting to partner with you."
Elena knew Anya had tampered with Maeve's submission during the Intelligent Competition just to fight for the spot the Grovers were sponsoring.
Well, look at her now. Not only did she lose the spot, but she also ended up slapped with a disciplinary action from the school.
Sure enough, the moment Anya heard the vice principal was looking for Maeve, the bitter jealousy in her eyes became blatantly obvious.
Just as they brushed past each other, Anya abruptly stopped in her tracks.
"Maeve, for better or worse, I'm still your half-sister."
"Seeing me end up like this, are you happy?"
Elena could barely believe her ears.
"Anya, have some shame, would you?"
"Even if you treated Maeve as a sister for a split second, you wouldn't have sabotaged her work right before the competition."
"Playing the victim while being the villain, you sure know how to spin a narrative."
Anya shot Elena a withering glare.
"This is our family's business. Stay out of it."
Elena hooked her arm through Maeve's.
"All I know is that Maeve's last name is Vance."
Anya didn't want to waste her breath on someone like Elena; she stared fixedly at Maeve.
