Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 381

Michael: "Am I the only one here who's focusing on the wrong part?"

"By your logic, how would anyone ever manage to lose twenty rounds in a row?"

Maeve Vance: "If someone wins twenty straight, they get to pick one person and keep playing them."

"If you beat the same person twenty times in a row, doesn't that automatically create someone who lost twenty straight?"

Everyone:

Winning twenty in a row or losing twenty in a row—either one sounded nearly impossible.

The game itself was simple to the point of boring, but the win/lose rule Maeve proposed lit a spark in anyone with an agenda.

Carson was the first to speak up. "I'm in."

Michael, Landon Hart, Corbin Shaw—and even Andres White—said they'd play too.

Nevaeh Mendoza, desperate not to be left out, immediately chimed in as well.

Corbin had invited other guests to the party, too—friends from other circles, men and women alike, all of them with serious standing in Aethelburg.

Andres knew a few of them well enough to exchange greetings, but their worlds didn't overlap much, so they rarely kept in touch.

There were five of them in total: three men and two women.

The man in gold-rimmed glasses introduced himself as Samuel Hartley, mid-thirties. In literary circles he was practically a celebrity—three bestselling, twisty thriller novels under his belt, all adapted for the screen, all absurdly successful.

Samuel was self-made, the kind of person who'd clawed his way up on raw talent and charm, and he'd done more than fine for himself in Aethelburg.

The other two men were Corbin's old classmates—well-known trust-fund heirs around town.

The more traditionally handsome one was Lucas, whose family business was real estate.

The one with a bookish air was Linden Woods, whose family manufactured medical devices.

The two women were Lucas and Linden's dates.

Lucas's girlfriend was Whitney Chase, one of Aethelburg's social darlings.
