When Maja saw the message, she was dumbstruck. Her gut was telling her to stay away.

"Miss Penny, Mr. Raymond is in a bad mood tonight. You better tread lightly."

Maja changed into the hotel's soft white slippers at the door, put her bag aside, and walked toward him.

Then she saw the bracelet on the coffee table.

Ian sat up straight, casually tossed the bracelet aside, and told her, "Go take a shower."

Maja was a bit scared of that silent Ian, but she didn't dare to say anything. The air in the room felt heavy, and so did her steps.

After she took a shower, Ian was not in the living room. The bedroom door was open.

Maja felt like a convict walking to the gallows as she headed for the bedroom.
