Dark Revenge Of An Unwanted Wife The Twins Are Not Yours novel Chapter 510

Chapter 510: Loose Ends II

Athena felt a smile touch her lips when she heard Cairo calling a countdown, one that allowed the children—the twins and Kendra—to hide before the older child came after them.

She hadn’t been there when Cairo had cracked her first smile since that night, since her mother’s death, but she had known that her grandmother’s hunch had been right again.

That the little girl only needed some loving, not some labeling because she was a criminal’s daughter.

Athena would admit that she had been a giver of the latter, until Florence had set her right. Let the sins of the parents perish with them.

Holding a recent copy of Collen’s latest book, signed, gifted to her by Ewan a few days ago, she raised her legs, placed them on a stool, and let herself sink into the pages of the book.

It was Sunday, the only day she had in the week for true rest.

Ewan had gone out earlier, being secretive of where he was going to, only that he was going to see Sandro. But she knew him enough to know when he was planning something—something beautiful for her.

She smiled sheepishly, turning another page. Herbert was right. She was one lucky woman.

Just then someone stepped into the living room. When she looked up and saw it was Spider, she closed the book gently.

"Spider... is there any problem?"

Another thing she had long given up on was understanding why the fellow standing before her looked familiar, or that matter about his blood. Nez, her plug in the black market, hadn’t been helpful either.

She had decided to sweep it under the carpet as one of those things life never gives answers to.

"Not really. I think it’s good news." He handed over his phone to her. "But seeing as you are cozy with a book, I don’t think you are aware of it? It’s the stuff we’ve been looking for..."

Athena wanted to tell him to be direct, that there were many things they were looking for, but she was already playing the video. And when it started, she knew what he was talking about.

A mischievous grin lit up her face as she listened to Marianne rage about her son in the cells; to Jonathan trying to calm his wife down; to Marianne pushing the male away, calling him coward; to her grand aunt hushing them both up, asking what they should do; to Marianne suggesting that they do away with her; to Jonathan supporting his wife; to the grand aunt agreeing but saying who to call since the gang was over and done with—Connor’s father dead too; to Jonathan suggesting that they reach out to Connor with enough money to continue the work that his father had started; to Jonathan saying he would get the money.

All these, before they started out of that location that had the camera.

"Check the next video."

Athena did without hesitation, relief and happiness mixing like water and salt within her. This video was of Jonathan making the call to Connor—somehow he had gotten Connor’s contact.

"Nothing special there. Connor has been using his father’s phone... or rather keeps it on should his father’s old contacts reach out to him for business..."

"He takes his father’s place..." Athena murmured.

Spider shrugs. "Money needed to be made. Ewan allowed it then, so long as it didn’t interfere with our work."

She nodded slowly. The last time she had spoken with Connor was a week ago or thereabout when he had called to apologize for his father’s games. He had also spoken to her grandparents.
