"Since you're so eager to die, allow me to grant your wish!" one of the True Immortals snarled before suddenly lunging at Yuan.
"Supreme Spear Arts, Grand Thrust!"
The cultivator drew his arm back before hurling the spear in his grasp toward Yuan. His aim, however, deliberately avoided any vital organs, as though he wished not to end Yuan's life too quickly, but to let him suffer a slow, agonizing death.
Yet the instant the spear touched Yuan's body, it stopped cold against his skin, unable to pierce even a fraction deeper. To the wielder, it was as if he had struck an unyielding wall of steel.
“W-What...2"
The man's eyes widened in disbelief, refusing to accept what he was seeing. He subconsciously began channeling more Immortal Qi into his strike, pushing with all his strength. Yet, the spear remained frozen in place, unable to advance an inch.
Yuan calmly looked at the spearman and said, "How are you going to kill me if you cannot even harm me?"
"AHHHH!"
The spearman let out a furious shout, unleashing the full force of his cultivation. A moment later, he felt the spear inch forward and allowed himself a brief smile—only for it to vanish when he realized the truth. Yuan had merely moved back ever so slightly, creating the illusion that the weapon was piercing his body.
"Fuck! What the hell are you doing? Stop fooling around!"
Unable to bear watching any longer, another True Immortal roared in frustration and charged forward, swinging a massive mace—twice the size of his own body—straight at Yuan's head.
BOOM!
A violent shockwave tore through the area as the mace slammed down on the crown of Yuan's head, hurling him into the ground. The impact shattered the earth, leaving a massive crater in the ground.
“That's how you do it, Third Brother!” laughed the man wielding the mace.
“Damn it! That was unnecessary, Third Brother! I could've killed him myself if you had given me a little more time!"
“Enough yapping and go search his body! He reached the Golden Immortal realm as an orphan, and he's mentioned having fortuitous encounters. He's bound to be carrying something valuable," Zeng Guoquan barked.
“Yes, Elder Sister!" they replied in unison.
But just as they moved toward the crater where Yuan had fallen, one of the other two brothers suddenly shouted in alarm, "Watch out!"
The Third Brother barely reacted just in time, but the Fourth--spear in hand--was a split second too slow. A sword flashed toward his face, the gleam of its edge being the last thing he saw before his consciousness was swallowed by darkness.
Though the Fourth Brother never realized how he died, the others were gripped by a surge of sorrow and fury at the sight of a sword driven straight through his face. "FOURTH BROTHER!"
The other three brothers shouted.
"So loud," Yuan remarked as he emerged from the crater without even a scratch on his body.
“You bastard! You killed our Fourth Brother!" the remaining three brothers roared, weapons leveled at Yuan as their eyes blazed and Killing intent flooded the area.
