Chapter 606 A Bombshell
Bridget noticed how defensive Brielle was getting over her cousin and chuckled to herself. Still too young and impatient.
She looked back at Amelia. The more she looked, the more she liked her.
It wasn’t just that she was gorgeous; she had this intelligence and calm confidence in her eyes. Just standing there, she naturally carried an air of quiet grace.
Standing off to the side, Gianna faded into the background, almost invisible.
It felt like nobody even noticed she was there.
Usually, she was the center of attention, so being ignored felt terrible.
Remembering why she came, she decided to speak up to get some attention.
“Cora, I may have come today with Brielle, but I’ve heard so much about you.
“Everyone says you were such a powerful, legendary woman when you were younger. I’m so happy to finally meet you today.”
Hearing Gianna’s obvious flattery, Bridget snorted quietly.
Still too young. Women their age in wealthy families had already heard this kind of stiff, fake praise a million times.
Clearly, Cora felt the same way.
She didn’t want to hear it, especially not from Gianna.
Cora already hated that Brielle had brought Gianna home, but now that she was trying to get noticed, Cora was even more fed up.
Especially because of Gianna’s background.
“Enough,” Cora said, cutting her off. Her voice was calm but very cold. “Since you’re a guest, just sit down and have some tea.”
It sounded polite, but Cora didn’t look at Gianna for even a second,
She turned right back to Amelia, her face softening, “Amelia, don’t just stand there. Come sit down.
“Floyd said he went to the study to get something from his collection for you. What’s taking him so long?”
This obvious difference in treatment felt like a loud slap across Gianna’s face. Her hand shook as she held her teacup, and her face turned red, then pale.
She was furious but had to force a smile that looked more like she was crying.
“Grandma, you’re playing favorites again! Why are you always so gentle and warm to Amelia?
“Gianna is my friend. We’re going to be like sisters from now on!”
