Chapter 593 After She Slept
Amelia’s rosy cheeks looked especially cute.
After sitting for a while, Amelia started sneezing frequently. She had probably caught a chill earlier in the showers.
Jeremy did not bother waiting for the rest of the staff to finish. He took Amelia and left early, handing the remaining matters over to Josie and Harrison.
As soon as they stepped outside, a cool breeze hit them head-on. Amelia instinctively shrank her neck and sneezed again.
Jeremy frowned even more. He took off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders, then wrapped an arm tightly around her as he guided her toward the parking area.
Amelia pulled the jacket closer around herself, breathing in the warmth and the faint scent of cedar that lingered on it.
Once they got into the car, Jeremy immediately turned on the heater. He grabbed a thin blanket from the back seat and covered her legs before starting the engine.
He drove steadily. The car grew warm and cozy. Amelia leaned back in her seat, watching the streetlights pass by outside the window as her eyelids slowly grew heavy.
Jeremy glanced at her through the rearview mirror, slowed the car down, and asked softly, “Sleepy?” Amelia hummed in response, her voice soft and drowsy.
“Take a nap.
I’ll wake you when we get home.” As he spoke, he turned the music down and switched it to something slow and calming.
When they got home, Jeremy carried her straight into the bedroom.
She was half-asleep and let him place her on the bed. He helped her take off her shoes and tucked her in properly.
He quickly headed into the kitchen. The water in the pot soon came to a boil. Ginger slices and brown sugar rolled in the bubbling water, releasing a spicy, comforting warmth into the air.
The ginger tonic she had earlier at the shop clearly had not been strong enough, so he decided to make one himself,
He stayed by the stove, stirring occasionally, his thoughts constantly drifting back to the person in the bedroom. He finished quickly.
When he returned with a steaming glass of ginger tonic, Amelia was already asleep.

Jeremy placed the glass on the nightstand and sat by the bed, gently smoothing the crease between her brows. His fingers brushed over her slightly pale cheek.
Once the drink cooled a little, he carefully woke her. “Amelia, wake up and drink some ginger tonic before you sleep again.”
Amelia was sleeping deeply and was clearly unhappy about being woken up. She let out a few soft, muffled protests and refused to open her eyes.
So this was how she was when she got sick. Childish, clingy, and extra spoiled.
Jeremy’s heart had already been racing, and now it fluttered even harder.
He loved this side of her, the one that liked to cling and act spoiled, but he did not want to see her sick at all.
If it took illness to see her this soft and sweet, he would rather have her usual feisty, stubborn, slightly arrogant self.
Jeremy was endlessly patient as he coaxed her gently. “Be good. Drink this and you’ll feel better, okay?”
He scooped up a spoonful, blew on it, and brought it to her lips.
Amelia instinctively opened her mouth and swallowed. The spicy taste made her instantly more awake. “It’s so spicy,” she said with a scrunched-up face.
“Finish the glass and you’ll be fine,” Jeremy said with a smile. He fed her spoon by spoon, his gaze so gentle it nearly melted.
After finishing the ginger tonic, warmth gradually spread through Amelia’s body, and she seemed more alert.
Jeremy cleaned up the dishes, then brought over a thermometer to check her temperature. “It’s 98.8 degrees. That’s good. No high fever.”
He let out a quiet sigh of relief and tucked her back under the covers. “Get a good night’s sleep. You’ll be fine tomorrow.”
Amelia held onto his hand and refused to let go. “Sleep with me.”
Jeremy was more than happy to agree. “I’ll go wash up and be right back.”
He finished as fast as humanly possible, changed into his pajamas, and slipped into bed, afraid she might change her mind.

But Amelia did change her mind.
