Raymond sighed and then carefully said, “Then could you go check on your mom again? She’s not doing well either.”
Even if it wasn’t immediately life-threatening, if it wasn’t controlled, it was basically a countdown on her life.
“Okay.” Amelia nodded and turned to leave.
She gave a quiet “okay,” but you
couldn’t hear any real emotion in it.
Raymond couldn’t tell if Amelia hated Emery now, or if she was just disappointed, or if she had no feelings left at all.
He didn’t dare ask, and he didn’t want to know. He just pretended he hadn’t heard.
The two of them quickly made their way to Emery’s ward. Outside, many of the Nygards’ relatives were already gathered.
If they had doubts before, now they didn’t have any-only a hint of respect.
Because Miguel’s condition had completely improved, when someone proves themselves like that, who would dare question them?
Even Maxwell didn’t dare say a word.
Amelia walked into Emery’s ward and saw her lying pale and lifeless on the bed, her eyes blank.
It looked like she had completely given up on living, just waiting here to die.
Only when Emery saw Amelia come in did her dull eyes suddenly light up.
She wanted to say something but didn’t know what and even felt ashamed to speak.
Luckily, she couldn’t talk right now anyway, so she could temporarily avoid facing it.
Then her eyes grew wet, tears brimming over.
Seeing her like this made Amelia feel a little sad and hurt.
She didn’t know if it was because of the family bond she still felt or if anyone would feel sad seeing someone like this.
Suddenly, a tiny crack opened in her mind, and a happy childhood memory slipped through.

Her childhood hadn’t been all dark. On the contrary, some moments were happy, unforgettable, and warm.
She had worked hard to forget it, but now a small memory slipped back.
It made Amelia’s heart skip for a moment, though it passed quickly.
She pulled herself together and quietly went over to check on Emery, not saying a single word.
After a while, she couldn’t help frowning.
Emery’s condition had come on fast and was much more serious than she had imagined.
She had warned Emery before to take care of herself.
After all, she had noticed some warning signs the last time they met.
It seemed like Emery hadn’t taken her advice to heart, which is why it had gotten worse over time.
Especially after being repeatedly stressed and triggered, the illness had progressed faster and more aggressively.
Amelia quietly used special needle therapy techniques to help Emery, and also a new type of arnica heat therapy pack she had personally developed.
These treatments weren’t widely used yet.
They worked by gently stimulating certain pressure points on the body, helping to relax muscles, ease tension, and help warm the body.
Suddenly, Emery felt a warm flow through her body. It was much better than the cold, numb feeling she’d had before.
She still couldn’t move or speak, though.
After an unknown amount of time, Amelia finally left the ward.
Her fingertips still carried the warmth from the arnica packs, but a strange restlessness lingered
in her heart.
This time, no one dared to question or argue with her after she came out.
Even Miguel, who had talked so much before, didn’t dare say anything.
He wanted to ask about Emery, but he hesitated too much to speak.
