Chapter 487 Rotten Luck
Finisheri
Gianna wasn’t sure if her older brothers would still accept her as their half-sister when the time came. She had no real confidence in it.
So, she decided to start with Maxwell first. She planned to squeeze every bit of value out of him, then figure out how to trick Miguel next.
Gianna felt pleased with herself. To her, Maxwell was easy to handle. He was simple. Easy to push. Easy to deal with.
The next day.
The auction was a charity event hosted by the Corvas. Thirty percent of the proceeds would be donated to children’s education programs.
It was a charity event in name, but there were many valuable items up for bidding.
Once the news spread, wealthy guests arrived one after another just to take a look.
An invitation was required to enter. Anyone who made it inside was either rich, powerful, or both.
The moment Gianna arrived, she started taking photos and posting them online.
“This auction is really nice,” she said with a smile. “The setup is so luxurious. It looks amazing.”
She had attended many auctions before, but this one felt different. The layout was more refined. More stylish. More impressive.
Gianna loved showing off, so she posted again and again.
“It does look good,” Maxwell said. “There should be a lot of great items today.”
“Of course,” Gianna replied quickly. “Maxwell, you have to buy something for me. You haven’t bought me anything in a long time. Marcelo and Miguel never forget.”
When facing Maxwell, Gianna was much more direct than she was with the others.
She knew him well. He was easy to fool. Easy to control. And very easy to provoke.
“What’s the big deal?” Maxwell said at once. “It’s just an auction. Buy whatever you like. I’ll pay!”
When he heard that Esmond and Miguel had quietly bought Gianna gifts before, he felt annoyed. It made it seem like he hadn’t treated her well enough.
That really upset him.
He wanted Gianna to see clearly that he was far more generous than those two men.
Both of them were in high spirits as they walked inside.
But the moment they entered, they saw someone familiar.

Chapter 487 Rotten Luck
It was Amelia! His real sister!
“Amelia? Why are you here?” Maxwell asked in surprise.
He truly hadn’t expected to see her.
She had never liked places like this before.
Was it really dislike, or could she just not afford it in the past?
“What? You run this place?” Amelia replied coolly. “I’m not allowed to come?”
What rotten luck! Of all people, she had to run into the two she least wanted to see.

“Why are you talking like that?” Maxwell snapped. “I was just asking. Do you really need to be so rude?”
This was exactly what he disliked about her. Every time they spoke, she was cold and sharp.
Why couldn’t she be more like Gianna-gentle, sweet, maybe even a little cute?
“Amelia,” Gianna said softly, seizing the moment, “Maxwell is worried about you. There’s no need to be so upset with him.”
She slipped in her words smoothly, as she always did, planting misunderstandings with ease.
“Oh,” Amelia replied flatly. “Then he can worry about you instead.”
“You-” Maxwell was furious again.
“What’s going on here? Amelia was in a great mood. Running into you two ruined her mood. Don’t flatter yourselves so much.”
Whitney didn’t know all the details, but she knew enough. Amelia had never gotten along with her family.
Now that she heard the way those brothers spoke, it was easy to see why.
Amelia was naturally easygoing.
So in Whitney’s eyes, the problem was simple. Those two just didn’t know their place.
“Hmph. Let’s go,” Whitney said coldly. “Ignore them. Bridget and Jeremy already told us, Just bid for anything that catches your eye today.”
She took Amelia by the arm and walked away. They sat in the best seats at the auction hall, not sparing those two a glance.
