Crowned by the Man They Feared (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 446

The Heiress They Couldn’t Break

Chapter 446 Unshaken Trust

Amelia looked at him helplessly.

Just now, this man had spoken with such confidence and made a firm promise to the Jordans.

What if she failed?

If things didn’t work out, he would be involved as well, and they would both end up humiliated.

“I trust you,” Jeremy said softly. “No matter when or where, I’ve always trusted you. And I always will.”

He reached out and gently patted her head. His eyes were steady and sure.

His words. His actions. Even the way he touched her head.

His words, his actions, and his expression-especially the way he touched her head-hit Amelia straight in the heart.

News of Cora’s sudden collapse spread fast. Everyone in the family knew.

Esmond rushed home and went straight to the hospital.

Inside the largest and best VIP room, the whole family filled the space. Several top specialists were there as well.

After running many detailed tests, all the doctors reached the same conclusion. Cora had suffered a stroke, along with bleeding in the brain.

In cases like this, surgery was usually the best option.

But there was a serious problem. Cora was very old. A major surgery carried a high risk. There was a strong chance she might not survive the operation.

If they chose conservative treatment instead, the outcome was also uncertain.

Even the best doctors could not guarantee when she would wake up or if she ever would.

The room felt heavy and tense.

“I think conservative treatment is safer,” one doctor said. “Surgery carries too much risk.”

“I agree,” another added. “It may take longer, but the risk is much lower.”

Aside from a few doctors who wanted to take a bold chance, most recommended conservative treatment.

As the head of the family, Esmond stood there with a tight expression. His face was dark.

He asked, “Will conservative treatment make my mother’s condition worse? Is there a chance she may never wake up?”

“We’re sorry,” a doctor replied. “We can’t say when she’ll wake up. But for now, her condition is stable, and there’s no sign of it getting worse.”

“Yes,” another doctor said. “We’re not sure if she took any medication before she was brought in, but whatever it was, it seems to have helped prevent further damage.”

“I suggest we observe first,” a third doctor added. “If her condition worsens, we can still consider surgery or other options.”

When the doctors mentioned medication, both Sabrina and Brielle thought of Amelia.

After Cora collapsed, Amelia gave her a pill.

At first, Brielle wanted to speak up that the pill might have caused Cora’s condition to become so serious that surgery was no longer an option.

From what the doctors said, it sounded like that pill might have actually helped.

If that were true, Brielle had even more reason to keep quiet. There was no way she was going to let that woman take the credit.

Sabrina pressed her lips together as well. She clearly had no intention of bringing the matter up.

“Alright then. This is all we can do for now.”

Since most of the specialists agreed on conservative treatment, Esmond had nothing more to say. He could only follow the doctors’ advice.

After the doctors left, the hospital room fell quiet again.

“Esmond, Mom is seriously ill. You really shouldn’t spend all your time on work. Come home more often and stay with her.”

The one who spoke was Cora’s youngest daughter-Esmond’s sister, Nydia Jordan.

“Aunt Nydia, Dad has been swamped with company business,” Brielle said right away, unable to hold back.

“If he had time, he would definitely stay with Grandma.”

“That’s right,” Sabrina added calmly from the side. “Uncle Esmond has done a lot for our family. He’s not avoiding Grandma on purpose.”

Sabrina knew she couldn’t keep quiet. She quickly followed Brielle’s lead and spoke up.

Nydia glanced at Sabrina, and her anger faded at once. She sighed and said, “I’m just talking. I’m not really blaming him.”

This niece of hers was Paul’s daughter. Sabrina had lost both parents at a young age, yet still grew up to be so capable. Because of that, Nydia had always cared for her deeply.
