Chapter 423 The Uninvited Guest

“What a hopeless kid.” Whitney rolled her eyes at him, watching him try to play it cool despite looking so pathetic. She didn’t know whether to be annoyed or amused.
Amelia, who hadn’t quite pieced things together at first, finally understood what was going on after watching their antics and Jeremy’s behavior.
She couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
These two and the atmosphere here… it actually felt pretty nice.
At the very least, it was comfortable and pleasant, and she felt completely relaxed.
“See? Even Amelia’s laughing at you now.”
“Okay, okay, enough already.” For the first time, Jeremy felt genuinely embarrassed.
Couldn’t a guy keep a little dignity around here?
And so they chatted and laughed while waiting for lunch.
Just then, Bridget arrived.
The warm, happy atmosphere they’d been enjoying suddenly felt disrupted the moment they saw her approaching.
But no one said anything or let it show.
“Jeremy! I’m here to see you! Have you eaten yet?” Bridget called out cheerfully as she made her way in, her voice arriving before she did.
“Oh? Whitney, you’re here too? I thought you’d gone back to PharmaCore 01.”
She seemed surprised to see her daughter-in-law there.
Usually when Whitney came home on leave, she stayed at the Curran Estate and rarely anywhere else.
Seeing her here now made Bridget realize she was still on vacation.
“Yes, I’m taking at least a few months off this time, so I’m staying at my son’s place. I want to spend some quality time bonding with him.”
Whitney said this as naturally as could be, not about to admit she was really here to bond with her future daughter-in-law.
And to give her son’s love life a little push. Otherwise, who knew when that girl would ever call her “Mom.”
“Jeremy is busy enough as it is. What quality time does he need with you now? If you wanted to bond, you should have spent more time with him when he was a child.”
Bridget was clearly displeased, unhappy that her daughter-in-law had always prioritized work and hadn’t properly looked after her precious grandson after her eldest son left.

Chapter 423 The Uninvited Guest
After her little lecture, she finally noticed there was someone standing behind Jeremy.
When she got a closer look, her brow furrowed. “Amelia? What are you doing here?”
Amelia had been wondering if Bridget would be surprised to see her.
And sure enough, she wasn’t wrong.
“What’s so strange about her being here? She’s welcome anytime she wants.”

Jeremy immediately jumped to her defense, not willing to let Amelia feel unwelcome in his home for even
a second.
“Exactly! Amelia can come whenever she likes. I’m happy to have her here.”
Now Whitney joined in to protect her too. Nobody was going to give her future daughter-in-law a hard
time.
Bridget hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from both mother and son, and her expression darkened further.
All she’d done was ask one simple question about why this girl was here. She hadn’t even said anything bad.
If these two were already reacting this strongly, what would happen if this girl actually became part of the Currans?
Over the past couple of days, the Jordan sisters, Brielle and Sabrina, had been whispering in Bridget’s ear, filling her head with all sorts of exaggerated stories about Amelia.
Because of this, she didn’t have a good impression of Amelia at all.
Especially since the engagement she had worked so hard to arrange between her grandson and the Jordans had fallen through because of this woman.
So Bridget’s opinion of this girl was far from favorable.
She wondered if her daughter-in-law had spent so much time at PharmaCore 01 that she’d become disconnected from the real world.
That would explain why she couldn’t see through this scheming girl’s true colors.
“Bridget, is there something you needed?” Whitney asked.
That question hit a nerve.
“Do I need a reason to come over? Can’t I just miss my grandson and want to see him?”
Bridget felt both angry and a little hurt, sensing that her daughter-in-law wasn’t exactly welcoming her visit.
