Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 611

Evander’s eyes shot up to meet his, clearly surprised. “He’s not a Rayburn?”

“I was digging into Hulda giving birth abroad, right? So I followed the paper trail, looking at all her old medical records. I was hoping to pin down her pregnancy dates, but instead, I stumbled onto something huge.” Elliot pulled out his phone and slid it in front of Evander.

Evander picked it up. It was one of Hulda’s earliest physical examination reports.

Congenital absence of the uterus.

“See? Hulda could never get pregnant. So that child isn’t hers, and he isn’t a Rayburn. I haven’t figured out where the baby came from yet, but I’m sure the maid who helped her fake the whole thing knows.”

Evander remained silent.

Caleb Rayburn had been waiting outside the ICU for a long time when Sean and Susy Rayburn arrived with their father.

“Dad?” Caleb said, walking toward them.

Mr. Rayburn stood still, his hands resting on the head of his cane. His gaze was fixed on the closed doors of the ICU, his cloudy eyes betraying no emotion.

Susy was the first to speak. “Caleb, how is Quincy?”

Caleb shook his head. “The doctor said he’s not out of the woods yet. He’s still under observation.”

“That Shane…” Susy sighed deeply. “All these years, Hulda kept such a massive secret.”

Hulda hadn’t just deceived them; she had fooled Mr. Rayburn himself.

He had suspected Shane, like Kate, was just another pawn in the fight for the inheritance. After Hulda and Quincy’s affair was exposed, he even entertained the absurd idea that Hulda had been unfaithful for years and Shane was actually Quincy’s son—turning his grandson into his great-grandson.

But never, not once, did he imagine that Shane had no blood connection to the Rayburn family at all.
