Victoria exploded with rage. “Why should he change his name? Why should my Cross family grandson change his name?”

Hanley suddenly rushed forward and hugged Natalie. It was one of the few times he had ever hugged her.

Everyone looked at Natalie, seemingly waiting to see her reaction.

Natalie’s eyes flickered. Steeling her heart against the pain, she peeled his small hands off her and took a deliberate step back.

“I didn’t abandon you; you abandoned me. You always said Marie taught you so much and that I couldn’t compare to her. Now, I’m teaching you something: once you make a choice, you don’t get a chance to regret it.”
