Marie said furiously, “She just said it herself—she's not my mother! She said I'm not her daughter, Natalie is. So she deserves to die! I'm finished anyway, so at least I'll have company in hell!”
Richard was furious. He couldn't believe how heartless Marie was. Even if they weren't her biological parents, they had loved her unconditionally for years. How could she dare to harm Elaine?
Richard was seething, but with Elaine in her hands, he had to restrain himself.
Containing his anger, Richard said, “Marie, don't hurt Elaine. Think about how much she has doted on you your whole life... Before your brother showed up, she firmly believed you were her daughter. For you, she verbally humiliated Natalie. For you, she did so many things to hurt Natalie. You can't harm her!”
“Then why is Marcus Ward still alive? If he had died, we could have all lived happily. I'd still be the heiress of the Ward family, and you'd still be my mother and father.”
Elaine Ward spat back, “In your dreams! We don't want an ungrateful snake like you! If you're going to kill me, just do it! I'm telling you, I still want you and your black-hearted mother to rot in prison!”
At that moment, if Kate Verdan hadn't already been arrested by the police, Elaine would have torn her apart, consequences be damned.
Furious, Elaine struggled, and the glass shard cut her neck, drawing blood.
At that, Richard shouted desperately, “Elaine, don't move! Don't move!”
